OCD Treatment

There is no way for OCD to go away on its own, it can only get worse. Therefore, it is important that a person who suffers from OCD contact a mental health professional for treatment and to know their options.

Many forms of treatment combine therapy with medication that will allow an individual to control their compulsive behavior.

Cognitive-Behavior Therapy: This form of therapy encourages an OCD sufferer to address their behavior and their fears. Cognitive-behavior therapy will expose a sufferer to their fears until they are able to feel comfortable and normal about an object or situation.

Medications Used: There are a variety of medication regimens that can be taken with OCD and it depends upon severity. Typically anti-depressants like Paxil or Prozac are used in treating OCD.
